"Fire on the mountain, run boys run"

If you've ever heard this Charlie Daniel's song, that's what we are singing over here in the mountains as of late. There was a fire the other day in Prestonsburg that started on one side of the mountain and spread to the other, a few weeks before that another was in Wheelwright and this week, McDowell has hit the map. The fire started on the Frazier's Creek side of the mountain and has slowly crept to our side, right behind the Lodge.

An All American Girl Birthday--Complete with Ice Cream

We celebrated Faith's birthday last night American Girl style. She has been reading all the American Girl series books that she can get her hands on, so I went E-bay shopping and found a slew of books at a great deal. . .even got the Samantha doll :-) For dessert, she opted for a bowl of chocolate ice cream. She had to blow the candle out fast so it wouldn't melt her 'cake' :-)

Here are some pics. that I snapped today at the park. It was neat to watch her 'explore' her new surroundings. She's all in to trying to put new things in her mouth, and the flowers, grass, sticks and rocks looked so tasty! Such a little cutie :-)

The Birthday Girl!!!!

Today, Princess in Training #1 turns 7!!!! When asked how it felt to be seven, her response, "I still feel like six". She informed me last night before bed that the rest of us needed to 'gather' in her room the next morning and sing "Happy Birthday". . laughing, I said, "Girlfriend, you'll be up before we are". . .she giggled and said, "yeah, your right" :-)

Rain Gutter Regatta Winner!

Dillon took first place in Pack 802's Rain Gutter Regatta tonight! He won all 6 races he participated in. Way to go Dillon!!!!
